The menstrual cycle in females is very important and is regulated by the hormones of the body, secreted by the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland and the ovary.

Peri-menopause occurs for ladies when they reach their 40s, some even in their late 30s (if not taken care of) which can continue till actual menopause around the age of between 45 to 55 years old where there is no menstruation for 12 months in a row.
